Prenatal and Postnatal Chiropractic Care – Is it helpful?

The short answer is yes! However, many people don’t even know that chiropractic care is an available option for people who are pregnant! Do you fall into this category? This can be due to a number of different things such as the overwhelming amount of stigma behind the profession of Chiropractors.

Did you know?

All chiropractors are trained and educated on how to work with women who are pregnant or post-partum. However, people also have the option to specialize in prenatal or postnatal care and often times seek additional training.

Chiropractors that treat women who are pregnant often times have to use alternative tables that can adjust or form to different positions based off of the women’s bump! Not only this, but these chiropractors use techniques that will not add any unneeded or unwanted pressure to the abdomen.

Why should I go see a Chiropractor when I’m pregnant?

There are many different reasons to begin seeing a chiropractor whilst pregnant. One of the most common reasons is due to back pain from the increased back curve and protruding abdomen. However, what people don’t know about are all of the different benefits they are about to experience such as;

1.     An overall healthier pregnancy

2.     Better control symptoms of nausea

3.     Typically helps reduce labor and delivery times

4.     Relieves back, neck, and joint pain

5.     Prevents C-sections in some scenarios

6.     Using the Webster Technique on babies who are breech, has about an 82% success rate of turning to vertex before labor and delivery.

Overall

Looking at all of the evidence, it is evident that seeing a chiropractor during pregnancy can be very beneficial and helpful within the process. There is little to no danger regarding the baby if receiving chiropractic services, which is always what we are aiming for! I bet you didn’t know that babies can even see chiropractors! However, with all of this said, it is always important to find out what works best for you and your baby and stick to that!
